Emu eggs are a longer commitment than chicken eggs. Plan ahead. Here are the numbers that matter:

How Big Does Your Incubator Need to Be?
Emu eggs are roughly 3× the size of a chicken egg, so the egg count on the box doesn't translate directly. These are the models that actually fit our eggs — the emu counts are our estimates:

Safe Transport
Non-slip is non-negotiable for emus at any age. Their legs splay and they can't grip slick surfaces.
Chicks
Medium pet crate or kennel. Line the bottom with a rug, thick carpet, or rubber matting. Drape a blanket over top (allow airflow). Keep the drive short.
Eggs
Each egg in its own cell — foam insert, egg crate, or padded box. Blunt end up. No stacking. Handle gently. They're heavy and the shell, while tough, cracks under point pressure.
Adults
Livestock trailer with covered back. Non-slip floor (rubber mat, carpet, or deep straw). Load slow and calm. Emus hate trailers — give them time.
